Join British Cycling

Today we are Quick Release Cycling Club, but where did it all start? Well, let me tell you..

For me the start was early January 2011 when a certain Mr Luke Coleman sent me an email?

“Dad and me are going to do the London to Brighton bike ride, it’s about 50 miles. Do you want to join us?”

Now please bear in mind these two already cycled, the pair of them owning Specialized Road Bikes, me on the other hand had a cheap supermarket bike shaped piece of heavy metal, ridden only once a year earlier from my house to Dave and Luke’s, it’s one and a half miles, to watch some football (WOW it took me an hour to recover)

So, on to Ebay and a week later the newly purchased ”Yellow Peril” arrived. Hells bells didn’t even know how to change the gears!

February 2011 and we are off, a couple of turbo sessions just to get a feel for it and then we hit the open road. I have to thank Dave and Luke for their encouragement and support, I was a little plumper around the middle at that time, so those little 10 to 15 mile rides certainly felt more than that. More and more rides followed building up the miles for all of us along with a couple of Kent and Sussex based Sportives. And so the love affair with the bike started.

2012 and we are off again munching miles on our new upgraded road bikes. Along the way we pick up Jake, young and strong (I hate him already, just kidding Jake) that’s the four of us. We have often talked whilst out riding about our own club and let me tell you just deciding upon the name took a little while?!?! What a turn around, club name decided and BANG everything fell into place very quickly, 7th February 2013 Quick Release Cycling Club is established.....

The future of this club will be history in the making, we are looking for like minded cyclists from beginners to established riders to join us. Be part of our family, be part of the cycling revolution, be QUICK and RELEASE yourself from the boredom of riding on your own. The Great British country side is waiting for us.
