We are very lucky to have two velodromes close by. The indoor velodrome at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester and the outdoor velodrome in Knowsley.

Riders need to be 9 years of age to ride on the velodrome and bikes can be hired direct.

School Holiday Sessions (Francis Transport) and Junior Taster Sessions on a Tuesday are a great way for riders to initially ride the track.

Track Cluster

Track cluster sessions offer riders at Go-Ride Clubmark Clubs a regular opportunity to ride at the track. Bolton Hot Wheels are part of the Lancashire Track Cluster and training takes place at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester.

Other clubs in our cluster are Cycle Sport Pendle, Red Rose Olympic, Ribble Valley Juniors, Salt Ayre Cog Set, Furness Future Flyers and Blackpool Youth Cycle Association.

Tom Leivers runs our Track Cluster which take place on a Sunday from 12pm to 3pm and sessions are booked through the British Cycling web site.

IF YOU ACCEPTED ON A TRACK CLUSTER SESSION IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU BOOK A TRACK BIKE.

It is important to arrive early for the track cluster, bring your own helmet and gloves, wear suitable clothing (importantly two top layers) and have drinks and snacks.

You can hire track shoes for a charge. You can also wear training shoes or your own track shoes. Please be aware that the pedals supplied with track bikes only use Look Delta Cleats.

Accreditation

Riders need to be accredited before racing. Riders also need to have their own track bike for accreditation and racing. Accreditation is achieved through track cluster sessions or junior and family taster sessions.

Local races

Manchester velodrome is the home of two track leagues for youth riders.

The ACT track league takes place on Monday evenings from 7:30pm for accredited riders (aged 9 or above). Please see http://www.act-track-league.org.uk for further information.

The Manchester Regional Track League is a higher level of racing than the ACT track league and runs on Friday evenings from 7:30pm. Please see http://www.mrtl.co.uk for further information.
